Ingredients:
- 8 oz (225g) pasta (penne, fettuccine, or spaghetti)
- 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (sliced into bite-sized pieces)
- 1 bunch asparagus (trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 small onion (finely chopped)
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream or half-and-half
- ½ cup (120ml) chicken broth
- ½ cup (50g) grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp butter
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- ½ tsp dried Italian seasoning
- ¼ cup fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
- Lemon zest (optional, for a fresh twist)
Instructions:

Cook the Pasta:
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente.
- Drain and set aside, reserving ½ cup of pasta water.

Cook the Chicken:
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the chicken, season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown and fully cooked. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté the Asparagus:
- In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and butter.
- Sauté the onion for 2 minutes, then add garlic and asparagus.
- Cook for another 3-4 minutes until asparagus is tender but still crisp.

- Pour in the chicken broth and let it simmer for 2 minutes.
- Lower the heat and add heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Stir until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.

- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet and stir to coat with the sauce.
- Add the drained pasta and toss everything together.
- If the sauce is too thick, add some reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
